About
Rachel Bake is a painter based in London, Ontario, working in bold, flat colour to capture the landscapes of the Great Lakes region. Her hard-edge paintings are built freehand on gallery-wrapped canvas without tape or mechanical aids, a technique that gives each shoreline, forest, and rock face its distinct graphic clarity.
Bake draws on a twenty-year background in textile design and fashion illustration, which shapes her instinct for colour and composition. Her work is rooted in a lifetime spent on the shores of Lake Erie and at Point Pelee National Park, where she and her family return every summer. It’s a ritual that continues to anchor her painting in a deep, personal sense of place.
Her work has been selected for group exhibitions at Gallery 1313, Blyth Festival Art Gallery, and the Square Foot Show.
She teaches Fashion Design at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario where she lives with her husband and two young children.
